Re: seals

We must be lucky, Boatist, as my wife and I saw a whole pod (must have been 12-15) of killer whales while on a fishing charter on our honeymoon about 25 miles off Cabo San Lucas in the Sea of Cortez. It was a great day - caught & released 4 striped marlin and kept a 30 lb dorado that my wife caught. This was in June of 1996.

Re: seals

This year's Columbia River salmon run has been strange...they stayed within 50 miles of the mouth for a couple of months, and have apparently been trickling upriver gradually instead of in big waves. In any case, they get to Bonneville Dam and as they circulate getting ready to go up the fish ladders, the seals and sea lions are having a great time. Local warden says they're getting more salmon than the fishermen and may have to cut short the season. Grrrr....<br />Where's the killer whales when we need them? You guys in Puget Sound/BC know how to get them a couple of hundred miles up our river??!!

Re: seals

ratherbe : seems to me i read somewheres that seals are not too fond of sharks. i wonder if ya towed a planing board to either side of yer boat (disguised as a shark fin) if that might discourage them? of course.....i could be wrong!!
