Sure you can use the vinyl just as your deck is right now. If the vinyl deck covering is laid down in one run you can cut it as wide as you want to have it run up the sides of the hull. In this pic I hadn't yet used the adhesive on the sides to glue down the vinyl to the hull. I went back and applied the adhesive after the base cured.

That looks good, I hadn’t even considered vinyl. What adhesive do you use against the hull?

Okay, so that is foam around the edges of the plywood floor, that makes more sense now, not that it is a bad thing, but that boat has a lot of foam in it!

:)

Watermann Yes, I thought I made that clear lol but there seems to be some confusion with others as well.

I am stuck at this point in the project and am asking for advice on what kind of goop or combination I can use to seal up this seam.

you dont need to seal the seam. because no mater what you do, it wont remain sealed unless you weld in aluminum.

your trying to apply fiberglass boat repair techniques to an aluminum boat. not going to work.

Pour in foam, if installed correctly, will come right out if you need to remove it.

I don't know, I have tore out a lot of factory installed water logged foam over the years and did not "come" right out!

My Crestliner has the bow foam plug poured in plastic, so it pops right out. Mid-ship is poured direct on aluminum and is stuck.

When I decked my jon boat, I lined the hull with painters plastic, poured the foam, then laid the deck panels down (with a bunch of lifting weights on top). Foam lifts right out since it's attached to the deck panels.

I have never been lucky enough to find one with a plastic liner!

yeah.... not here it won’t. Please see pics in my profile. On that note, can someone tell me if my pics are visible? It says I’ve uploaded 25 pics but only 11 are viewable to even me. I tried the Chrome Browser as suggested, but it is just as glitchy as Safari via IPhone. Tried the Mods link with no avail, but used a resizing app to post the pic above.

if I get a chance this week, I’ll try to spend some time to start a new thread with pictures. And let this one die. Hopefully my new thread will be understood better than this one was. I will take the advice that was given within the context of the OP.

Thanks guys for for your time, and your patients. Hope you’ll be interested to see what I have planned for the boat, and the progress that will be made, even though the seams will explode within minutes and soak up up water like a shopvac ;)

Might even be be able to run it before the water gets hard.

Pour in foam won’t come out easily for most people because they miss the most important step.

I wouldn’t use it on your boat either, the way most folks install it. They just pour it in and let it self level, and then expect to be able to remove it later. It won’t happen. That stuff will stick to almost everything.

You might want to touch bases with a Mod before starting a new tread, having multiple threads on one boat while not against the rules seems to be frowned upon. I think it's all been cleared up now on what you're doing and this thread is fine.

The clipboard icon in the upper right by the A works great for adding pics... like so.

I take that back. That pic just happened to be a smaller file. I will have to resize photos in order to post.
