I am in the process of reassembling my lower assembly onto the upper assembly of my Volvo DP-SM. In the SELOC manual, it states to coat the threads of all bolts or studs with sealing compound. The manual does not give me a Volvo part number. Does anyone know of the Volvo part number for the correct sealing compound, or know of a good aftermarket product to use on the studs and bolts to reassemble the upper and lower?

Thank you in advance!

I have the VP Service manuals and will look to see what it says to use. I know where it says to use a sealing compound for the outdrive mounting bolts I use pipe thread sealant.

Ok. Thanks! The outdrive I’m putting back together to put on my boat to replace my SX drive was used on a saltwater boat and has a lot of corrosion on the studs that caused me a lot of grief in splitting the unit. I was hoping to use their recommended sealant to help prevent or reduce the corrosion in the future (if possible).

Thank you very much for looking that up for me. Too bad they don’t list a actual part number for the Volvo sealing compound. If I can’t find the Volvo stuff, I guess I’ll just use a automotive type. Again, Thank you very much for looking that up for me.
