I purchased a red 6 gallon fuel tank on Craigslist and sure enough it leaks around where the fuel hose connector is screwed to the tank. It looks like the previous owner had used silicon to try and stop the leak. (My first hint that there my be a problem).
I am going to remove the screws and try and reseal it down using a polyurethane sealant like 3M 5200 or 3M 4200. I am I on the right track or should I use a neoprene gasket?

im guessing here.... but all of the above....(i dont know how neoprene will react with gas)

the stuff like marine tex, a 2 part mixing putty will also work on gasoline related parts

Go to any auto store and buy some gasket material, get the pen knife out, no sealent needed...unless ya want to..
