I just got a project 13' Whaler. I need alot of info. The bottom needs a lot of work. Can I sand it down to the fiberglass and just put a coat of epoxy resin on it? I want to just paint the boat, it will be trailered. I was thinking about painting on a barrier coat also, what would be the best way to go about repairing this?

Re: Seal bottom

What's the problem with the glass on the bottom? I don't think I'd add just epoxy resin to the hull. The constant flexing from use would cause it to fail pretty quickly I'd think without some fiberglass being added to it.

Re: Seal bottom

Spider cracks everywhere and some small pieces are exposed. I was just going to sand it down and patch, but didn't know how to reseal the bottom.

Any info on this would be great.

Re: Seal bottom

Yeah just use a barrier coat then if you want some bottom paint, but the barrier will seal it up like you want.
