usually if one is ok the other is ok,, you can put the shaft in and try to turn it with a vice grip if it is tight it won't slip. Or use a small pipe wrench and see if it will slpi while turning the shaft, also if you have a splined tool for the impeller you can put it in the pto and turn it with a wrench to see if the splines are still there,, you may also have bad bearings in the pump causing the problem of cavitation.. allowian the impeller to wobble and move out of center.

The PTO is threaded onto the end of the crankshaft. If the threads were stripped then it would free spin by hand without turning over the engine. As long as the engine RPM’s are responding to the throttle, here are the three main items that will cause no propulsion.
Number 1 & 2 will allow air to be drawn into the water flow path of the pump and cause cavitation.
1) Wear ring clearance
2) Rubber bellows has lost its ability to apply tension against carbon ring
3) Carbon ring worn down which will cause the bellows to lose tension.

first the splines in the pto where the drive shaft slips in has nothing to do with the threads that attach the pto to the crank,, and the 95 has a carrier seal they didn't change to the carbon seal till 1996.

Jeff, you proved my point, which I stated in my earlier post. It is very important to have a service manual for the ski you're working on because of the variables between models and years. I was just pointing out another area that would cause no propulsion. I have seen stripped threads on the PTO to crankshaft connection.
