Re: Sea sprite Boats ??

i know nothing of sea sprite. the sea sprites i've seen have been round abouts 16'er trihulls usually, 1970 era boats. a 25' walkaround sure aint that. anyways. generally speaking. i think it's more about how the boat has been taken care of than a particular brand.. i've even seen some bayliners that are darn nice. just well taken care of. any boat that's not taken care of properly will be a drag... remember, it's only that hull that is sea sprite, or aristocraft, or whatever, generally, everything else on a boat is made by someone else other than the oem of the hull. hopefully someone else can enlighten you better than i can.. ttt

I owned a 1976 Sea Sprite tri-hull, from 1978-1981. It had a 100 hp Merc OB on it, with NO tilt/trim. It was white, with a black stripe down each side, with a red interior, and back to back seats.

Was a solid old boat. Sold it to get married. (Shoulda kept the boat). ;)

Not much help to you I know, just had to add a comment or two.

We had a 1985 19' bowrider with a 125 OB. It was a deep V with a high freeboard, it was great for our young kids. My buddy had Bayliner of about the same year. They were very comparable. Aluminum hardware instead of stainless, no gel coat in storage areas that type of thing. I don't think they are built any more. That being said, I liked the boat and never had a problem with it in about 6 yrs.

I had a 1986, 195 Sea Sprite (19.5 footer) I bought it new in 1997 and paid $8000. It had a 140 Mercruser. It is a step up from a Bayliner, but not at the same level as a Searay, Glastron or 4 Winns. IT was a deep V, but was a bit heavy and not to easy to trailer... should have been faster:rolleyes: It was very stable and a fun boat and I never had any problems with it that wasn't my own fault!! I do remember it had a lot of teak wood that needed constant upkeep. It was a great family boat and pulled a skier with no problem... the holeshot sucked tho!!! All in all I would say it's similar to a Larson boat, and would be a good family boat and lots of fun!
