Sea ray sundeck 240 won’t rev passed 2000rpm

You are sounding like a fuel starvation issue there, I’d say. Are you sure you got all the fuel entirely out the tank ? That said, the alarm audible in the second video, might suggest another issue, perhaps sensor or ignition related.

So. Just had another look at your video. The second one in particular there. Just as she alarms…you can see the rpm gauge suddenly drop. This to me indicates an electrical issue. Likely caused by a bad earth somewhere, or more commonly around the battery terminals and or main terminal posts on the engine. Put those smartcraft gauges to the voltage reading and watch what happens to the reading as this occurs. Something along those lines is undoubtedly where your issue lies.

Thank you! I’m going to check all terminals and connections. Yes engine sounds like if all of the sudden power is cutting off

i had a boat last year that would do a similar isse. same engine as you. idles and runs at low speed with no issue, long story short, the customer had all sorts of bumpers and crap stored in the cabinet and after digging them out i found a loose connection from the lanyard kill switch wiring to the ignition system.
run a hot wire straight to the coil and try to replicae your issue.

It's not the kill switch if it runs at all

However not knowing the drive is in gear will limit RPM to 2000 or 3000 rpm

Low fuel pressure will limit the RPM

Low compression will limit the RPM.

Agree. Neutral safety switch is where I’d be looking, right after the main cables and obvious earthing points.

It's never the coil...ever
With only 40psi, your fuel pressure is low

With compression in the 115-120 range, the motor needs a rebuild

If your neutral safety switch is bad, motor won't rev when in gear

Time to start trouble shooting
Exception to that not revving (usually about 2500 rpm) rule, is earlier mpi engines from around 2003 for sure and maybe a year or so later. Just thought I’d add that in. Mine will rev out (if I’m silly enough) in neutral. 2003 v8 mpi.

i agree 100% if i had not witnessed this issue myself. just saying he replaced or attacked all other systems. sending 12V constant to the coild couldnt hurt and will rule that out.
