Re: Sea Ray mothballing plant, elliminating jobs
Word is the boat shows are going really well, attendance is down but the people there are looking to buy.
We are going to great legnths to help the dealers move non current boats, but again, until money starts flowing everyone is pretty screwed.
We found out Friday that we have 3 more weeks off to hopefully let some orders build up so we can work at some level for awhile and at least keep the core group of employees with the company.
I was the 5th person in the door when Bennington started in '97 so hopefully I will be one of the last 5 to leave.
It has been pretty sad watching the company go from upstart to industry leader and then seeing what is going on now, at one point we had close to 300 people doing 28 boats a day, now we are down to probably 80-90 at 10-12 a day.
Managemant has done an exceptional job running the company which is why we aren't hurting as much as alot of other companies so when things start to pick up were in a really good position, hopefully that is sooner than later.
I am in the loop so I knew it was coming and had time to prepare so I am in no danger of losing the house or anything like that, it is ALOT of time to kill though, I have a couple more things I can do to the boat and I may even(GASP) clean the garage.
