Hi,
I have a 2002 176 searay bowrider with a 3.0 mercruiser. Hearing rough ramble when idling, backfires at 3000 rpm, occasionally it doesn't start, not always. Feels as though it is not getting enough fuel. I (the mechanic that I brought it to)replaced all bellows, dist.cap, spark plugs, Can someone help?? Just put about $2500 into it and problem remains. It has 210 original hours on it....

have you replaced your fuel filters/water fuel separator? carb could need a good cleaning or rebuild too? if the firing order is correct as with the timing the rumble could be lose or broken motor mounts or lose broken out drive?

Thanks, I have'nt replaced fuel filters and was thinking that's what it could be or possibly the fuel pump, not so sure. Just had all the bearings and bellows replaced on the outdrive..

Do some homework before dumping more cash into her. This site has tons of usefull info and people willing to help keep you on the water. View the stickies section @ the top of this forum and read all the symptoms that are related to yours and troubleshoot from there but as previously said CARB could be the culprit but do not rule out anything electrical connections and such.Good luck!
