Hi all, haven't posted in awhile, but hoping for some help here.
I'm looking at buying a 1996 Sea Nymph FM161. Aluminum boat, 60hp 'Rude on the back (VRO bypassed.) Engine purrs like a kitten, boat does 32mph on 3/4 throttle and is very stable. Boat is in GREAT condition, except owner let water sit in the back, and I think oil or something got mixed into the carpet in a portion of the back carpet. So, I'm for sure replacing the carpet, and I'm figuring on the floor as well - I found one soft spot about the size of a baseball, so I figure by the time I check into that, the whole floor is coming up.... What I want to make sure is that this boat has aluminum stringers in it. Can anyone verify this for me? I've heard that all aluminum boats have aluminum stringers, but I don't want to buy this thing if I have to do a more major repair than replace the floor and recarpet the main deck. It's a good deal, but not that good of a deal! If nobody can confirm directly, any tips on a potential non-invasive method of checking on the stringers? I was thinking of removing one of the rear seat post mounts to see if that would help me to to see anything. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
thanks!
