OK so i just purchased a 91 Avanti, today i took it out and ran into shallow water and actually got stuck....long story short i got loose but at the expensive of banging my prop to hell, fortuanetly the guy i got it from gave me a brand new extra one with the boat. I also banged up the part below the prop, searching the internet tells me this is called the "lower part" is there any way to replace the metal or does it require a whole new piece which im seeing goes for 1000 bucks? ANy help would be appreciated.

Do you mean the thin blade (skeg) that sticks down from the round part that houses the propshaft? No big deal, easily repaired. If you mean the housing around the propshaft and above, could be a serious problem. Can you post a photo?

Take the boat and prop to a welding shop. They should be able to fix the skeg and prop.

Yes that is the piece i mean, basically there was chunks missing from the prop (which i replaced) and the blade that hangs down. Its even slightly bent. Thankfully i had extra prop, will the boat function properly even with skeg beat up?

You should be fine. You can take your prop in to a prop shop and have it rebuilt, and get an estimate for your skeg repair. Get it fixed in the off season.
