It's already being proposed. Congress is saying, we need a law to protect ourselves from ourselves.

Here's a list as best as I can find at the moment:

House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., about $77,000
House Majority Leader Roy Blunt, R-Mo., $8,500
Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, $15,000
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., $2,000 to be returned to the Michigan Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.
Republican Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., $16,000.
Christopher Bond, R-Mo., $12,500
Jim Bunning, R-Ky., $1,000
Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., $1,000
Thad Cochran, R-Miss., $8,000
Norm Coleman, R-Minn., $3,000
Elizabeth Dole, R-N.C., $1,000
Mike Enzi, R-Wyo.,
Judd Gregg, R-N.H., $12,000
Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., $9,000
Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., $2,000
Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., $4,000
Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., $18,500
Rick Santorum, R-Pa., $11,000
Gordon Smith, R-Ore., $8,500
Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, $16,500
John Sununu, R-N.H., $3,000
Jim Talent, R-Mo., $2,000
Craig Thomas, R-Wyo., $8,000
John Thune, R-S.D., $2,000
John W. Warner, R-Va., $1,000

There may be more, time will tell.

Oh, and the $100,000.00 figure being thrown out there is NOT money that Abramoff gave to Bush-Cheney. It's said he helped to fundraise that amount. Bush is returning $6,000 that cam directly from Abramoff, his wife and the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan.

Something to think about:
If all the politicians suspected of taking bribes or kickbacks (whatever this is all about) turn out to be guilty, who will be left?
Not that i don't think keel-hauling every last one of the bastiches is in order, but what of the power-vacuum they will leave behind?
My thoughts are:
1; that the dems will now sweep the upcomming elections,
2;thus, the repubs will lose their majority,
3;thus i'll have to retire (tax-wise, i won't be able to afford werkin, and i wont need to pay 746buks a month for my cobra coverage.)
4;It will initiate massive reforms, and clean-up much of the current "graft-for-vote" system....
Hmmm...Let's ride this scandal to the end, man! I'm looking forawrd to the many days of fishing before this ol 12Footer kicks-off. :)

Unfortunately, I agree with all but #4. I still remember the Republican's saying "no more business as usual", Gingrich's "Contract with America", McCain/Feingold's campaign finance reform.
Surely if Abramoff offered 300 bribes 299 would have been accepted.
It will take at least two honest, powerful centrists, like McCain and Lieberman, working together, to get anything worthwhile done to prevent it.
honest.............McCain??.....One of the Keating 5. Those bribes ended up costing the taxpayers BILLIONS$$$$.

Re: Scrambling after Abramoff Scandal

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher R-Ca says Adramoff is a good man. Dana says he plans to return 3K in campain cash and 4.5K he got from Indian tribes that Adramoff represented "if the tribes want the money back". I feel a lot better now knowing Adramoff is a good man and that Rohrabacher will give the tribes money back "if they want it".
How in the world can these morons think we, the public, that pays the freight, be OK with any of this?

I dont care if they just took a lousy $100 these are big boys and girls, they knew they were selling a vote for money. HANGING is too good for them. They sold us down the creek for thier own greed. I wonder how many pork barrel deals went through over his bribes (Abramoff) At the cost to us (taxpayers) of how many BILLIONS of dollars.
