As someone mentioned, one of the best games in recent years.

Could have done without the dancing sharks at halftime.

There were sharks ??? I had my eyes on the 'beach balls' :D

My step son was streaming it in the den ( we don't have cable tv, and reception isn't good for our local NBC affiliate.) so there was a lag of about 5 minutes for him versus us watching it in the living room.

I walked into the den and he said " Don't tell us how it ends!" So I got to watch their reaction to the end of the game. He and his buddies are all Patriot fans, and to watch them go from sadness and disappointment to jubilation was priceless.

They all agreed who ever made the call to pass for the Seahawks should have been the MVP for the Patriots as well. I'm glad it turned into a good game minus the fighting.

I believe this was the thinking on the decision to pass. The whole world thought ML was going to get the ball. They tried to pull a fast one and hoped to find a receiver standing by himself in the endzone. Happens all the time. This time it backfired. If it would have worked, Carrol would have been a hero..... I thought NE was all done too....

I saw an interesting article today on the theory that Belichick's allowing the game clock to run down, rather than calling a time out, forced Carroll into a time management decision that called for a pass rather than a run.

I certainly had not thought of that, but I do remember the TV focused on BB while he watched the clock run down well past a minute. . . thinking to myself, what is he doing ???

The parade was going to be tomorrow (Tuesday) but got moved to Wednesday, because of the wicked snow storm we are having today. Better for me, since I have back-to-back meetings all Tuesday and would probably have to miss it.

I got my SB49 locker room gear all ordered . . . that stuff is getting pricey. . . $35 for the hat . . . $70 for the hoodie and the sleeves aren't even cut off.

The only think I can think of about the slant pass is they were looking at getting two plays off.

Slant pass either scores or is incomplete.

If incomplete clock stops and run another play.

They didn't consider the third option on the pass play.

Woody Hayes always said, " When you pass only three things can happen and two of them are bad."

Yea, I saw a news article yesterday (so it has to be true :) ) since Bill Belichick did not take a time out and let the clock run well under 1 minute, that it forced Pete Carroll's hand into clock management with the Seahawk's remaining timeout.

An interesting aspect of the situation . . . not sure if it was intentional, but an interesting take on the last moments of the SB.

I think it was a brilliant non-call for the reasons you stated. It was absolutely intentional IMO. Carroll said that the reason they threw the pass was because they had their 3WR set against the Pat's goalline set. He said that they should have called a timeout and put their guys in there, but they took a shot instead.
If BB would have called that timeout, they probably pound lynch in there and win the game.

Parade today . . . a bunch of my company meetings were cancelled for today, so my schedule was pretty clear. I had an interview/job candidate scheduled for for the morning, but he turned out to be a no-show. So, off to the parade . . . :)

The trophy . . .

Had to get a picture of this . . .

Gronk and Edelman were the most entertaining, Belichick was even smiling.

Anyway . . . looking forward to spring and getting the boat ready for summer.

Yeah, BB NOT calling timeout really threw a wrench in things. I've read several analyses that show the pass wasn't really as dumb as it looked at the time. If it's complete, TD. If incomplete, the clock stops and you've got 2 plays and a timeout to set up a Lynch run. And if Butler was about a half step slower it probably would have been complete.

As Pete said, the interception was the only thing that could screw them up, Murphy's law got him, any other scenario and he would have been the hero, simple as that, he said when he saw it, his mind was in shock and he immediately started planing for next year.
