sand in motor

Ran up on sandbar this weekend sucking sand up in motor whats the easiest way to flush it out,The motor is a 98 ocean runner 150 hp.

open the thermostat housing and back flush it out as well.
obviously need new water pump impellor so do it while engine gearbox is off.

Put household garden hose on the pipe on full blast going up from gearbox to powerhead, with thermostat housing off it
will flush it out nice and easy.
give inside the water pump area a realy good clean out as well.

Drop the gearcase. Stick a hose into flush port on back of motor. Then remove thermostat covers and 'stats. See if you can get water to come out of the 4 openings (2 stats, water tube and exhaust).

I pulled lower unit off pulled water pump apart looks good ,pulled thermostats used garden hose and flushed up thru waterpump tube till no sand coming out of anywhere.had water coming out of both thermostat openings and flush hookup.put back together hope i didnt miss anything.going to take it out for test run this afternoon.

Haven't heard that expression since my race car days, about 40 years ago.
