Sooo got caught on a sand bar and got some sand up my intake. I don't know a whole lot about boat motors but I noticed that there was no water coming out of the motor so it wasn't cooling. The alarm went off due to over heating so I shut the motor off and got it trailered and back home. I took off the tube that leads to the intake and it was full of sand, I cleared that out and got it back on the water. There was now a little flow coming out of the hole but it wasn't as strong as normal and the alarm went off again. I cleaned it out again and this time I had normal flow however it didn't sound right but I ran it and for awhile and the alarm never went off. I felt the water coming out of the motor and it wasn't nearly as hot as before. Just wondering if you guys think something is still messed up or if maybe my motor is just cleaning itself out? It's a Mercury tracker 115 pro series outboard, any help would be appreciated thanks!
