I have a 16 ft Sea Nymph rated for 60hp,my merc 50hp went bad but I have a 90 hp. mariner with elec trim 1986. a local fab shop will beef up trans. with three sixteenth alum. I am not worried about transom but should I be worried about extra weight?

You should be worried about the whole boat, pecos. Safe power ratings for a boat address many factors beyond the transom and outboard weight. The engineers at Sea Nymph knew what they were doing. . .trust them.

Swap the Mariner and the defunct Merc parts motor for a good 50-60HP with PT&T. That will be the right package.

Good luck. :)
