Rusted Leaf Springs & Rustoleum

Purchased a used 1993 Sea Ray 17' with shorelander trailer, as I prepare for spring, doing a little maintainence, I was wondering about sanding the Leaf Springs so I can coat with Rustoleum. However I have just put new bearings in hub and have put hub on trailer.<br /><br />Will the rust debris as I am scrapping the Leaf Springs spoil my new bearings?<br /><br />Should I just pull of the repacked hub and sand with just spindle exposed?

you should be ok, if you did the bearing job correctly. they are now sealed. blow the debis off after sanding.
