Running my outboards with ear muffs?

Is it possible when it will be time to winterize my outboards in a few weeks to run them out of the lake especially my Evinrude 40 HP Lark8? Which model I need, some doesn't work for these outboard? My other outboard is a 1981 Sea Horse Jonhson 4,5. I know that we can't run them very fast, you can damage the motor

I probably winterize 25-30 engines a year, 75hp or less and I run them all in a tank. Get a 30 gal or so trash barrel and run them in it, keep the water level up and you will be ok.
