Is there any harm that can come from running the motor in a tub of water without a prop. I wan't to run all the gas out as part of my winterization.

Re: Running motor

Running the gas out will allow the cylinders to run DRY:no oil.It will run out from the top down.So the top 2-3 will be running dry.
It might score the cylinders.
If you add fuel stabilizer and don't want it to set with fuel in it, should undo the float bowl bolts and drain them.J

Re: Running motor

I know the feeling when you planned on going out again but time w/n allow. I have pulled my 1970?s 35 HP Chrysler?s glass fuel bowl to clear it in earlier years (to shorten the run process in a barrel). Since using StaBil the last 5-7 years, I have not been concerned about running it dry and have not had a problem. Good Luck! JOW
