Hi All- Another noob mistake ...I unknowingly installed a right hand prop on my alpha one (1984 Galaxy 185). My manual (Clymer) gives instructions for switching the shift lever so that forward is forward. I'm still having some trouble adjusting the shift cables - the boat will go into (whats now) reverse easly but not forward when the boat is in the water. It seemed to shift fine with the muffs on. My main question is can I do harm to the outdrive running it this way? Is there a real difference internally. Any advise would be appreciated.

Re: running a right hand prop

You cannot run the Alpha drive in the wrong direction without doing serious damage to the lower gear assembly.

Get the right prop.
