Rub Rail

Ok, I removed the rubber insert and found rivets holding the aluminum strip. How do I remove the rivets??? Dumb girl question

Rivits in a boat are usually aluminum so they are soft. Get some sharp drill bits and drill the heads off the rivets then drive the remainder out with a pin punch or similar tool.
