I have a 16ft 1973 Super Gypsy I/O and where the rub rail wraps around the transom it is missing the corner caps the screws are still attached which I find strange but no caps. I have looked high and low online for replacements with no luck at all, the closest I came to finding anything that looked even remotely what I need are dock corner caps. If anyone could shed some light on where I could find these it would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you

Thats exactly what I need. I will check out the salvage place. Thanks for your help Ken and your boat looks great. How much work have you put into your MFG? I am slowly restoring mine, when I purchased it, it was in pretty darn good condition, the only things that were missing was the rub rail corners, the OG steering wheel and on the right side MFG decal the race flag is missing I would like to find one of those too, but I am sure those are hard to come by. I will post pictures this week.

Thanks Again,
Mike

thanks Mike,
it just took a boat load (pardon the pun)of elbow grease to clean her up
She is all original :)
it only cost me $300.00 for the custom cover

Re: Rub Rail Question MFG

Ken,

I don't know if you mean progress wise or location? So I will answer both I am in Pittsburgh,PA and as far as progress goes I had to do work on the outdrive , who ever serviced the boat before I purchased it never installed the bellows correct, when they clipped it on I assume they thought it was on but it wasn't found that the first day I dumped it in the water, nothing like pumping out 5 gallons of water out on the Allegheny. I also had to reseal the upper unit and replace the gimbal bearing. Now I am slowly working on the boat itself. I had to remove the windshield and replace a lot of ripped screws and rebrace the drivers console because the walkthrough window was jamming. Also had to replace the two lounge seats because they were badly worn, its a shame because i loved the OG seats. Other then that the boat is in damn good condition for the year, all the gauges are pristine and work, engine cover and vinyl is in good shape all the vinyl trim is in excellent condition. The hull needs sanded and gel coated due to some fading and there are some nice deep scratches on the bottom but nothing major. I will post some pics hopefully this weekend if I get a chance.

cool, mine takes on a little water also I hope it is just that it needs a new drain plug and not the big seal between the out drive and the transom.
rpobably just waite till next spring :(
fixed income and rheumitoid arthritis makes for a bad mix
let us know if you get your parts from the salvage yard.
