RPM Gage not Working on 150 Merc

The RPM gage stopped working on my 2002 Merc 150 SWS. The gage also houses the fule and voltage gages. Both of these are working fine. I have the Clymer manual for the motor, but cannot find anything on the RPM gage connection? I checked all the connections going to the gage, and one looks like it is a vaccume line going into the middle of the RPM gage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.<br /><br />Rusty

Assuming the gauge is operable check the tach wire at the motor.In most applications the tach actually reads voltage generated.Check the charging system first.The stator may have gone bad.
