Update.....I finally got my puck transducer from Eagle.. (I sent the transom mount in to exchange out for the puck mount. It was backordered for about 3 weeks or so.) To my surprise, the cable length on the puck unit is only 12 feet instead of 20 like the standard transducer that came with it. This meant I couldn't run the cable down the shift/power cable to the foot unit and then down the power cable to the plug because I didn't have enough cable.
I then looked further at Texasmarks suggestion. I was able to make his method work and I must say I think it will work out better. I'll have to keep an eye out to make sure the cable doesn't get pinched anywhere but the way I have it mounted, I shouldn't have much problem. I think it will work out just fine.
I am disappointed in Eagle with my buying experience. (I bought 2 new Fishmark 320s) I believe the customer should be able to select whatever transducer they want when they buy the unit. (puck or transom mount) I had to pay 7.99 shipping plus my cost to ship it to them which was about 4.50 UPS. The transom mount comes with a mounting bracket so one would think they would include a big hose clamp with the puck unit for the trolling motor. Nope. I had to buy my own. Also, the puck has a much shorter cable than the transom mount. (20 ft vs. 12 ft). In my case, it worked out fine but I'm sure there are others that it wouldn't. I also sent in a letter asking a few questions when I sent in my old transducer. That letter was never answered. I also was never notified that my transducer was on back order or when it would arrive. All in all, it tells me that Eagle customer service is very poor and I will have to rethink buying from them when it is time to buy another locator. Customer service continues to decline in this country. What seems like low standards today, become the norm tomorrow.... and the cycle continues.
