The red boat in back has been sitting open for at least nine years, the boat doing the wheelie on its skeg has been sitting open since last summer. The one with the cover moved in last fall. The rest moved in about the same time and are all sitting uncovered.
This eyesore greets guests to our otherwise nice riverside neighborhood. The owner has a similar collection of non-running cars.
We're used to the junkyard, but I'll never get used perfectly good boats going to rot from neglect.

It is sad to see boats sitting outside, uncovered, and slowly rotting away …

The cost of labor to fix them is the issue.-----Most were not made with good materials.-----And they were never assembled to be repaired.------The sad part is that many similar boats are still being used.-----Folks have no idea what is in the transom or under the floor.

Tell me. I purchased a new Regal 1900ESX last summer. Very nice boat but I have no idea how typical repairs can be made. The entire top half: floor, gunnels etc is a single mold. Very nice for sending water to bilge drains. I only had a month of use before winter layup, so I didn't explore much. ...I think I remember a few access panels. I think the factory assembled many of the top half parts into the top mold before buttoning it up. ...steering and upper shift cable replacement looks near impossible.

"You can change the house, but you can't change the neighborhood"

I would probably move to a better/more private location if I were in the same situation.

Riverfront properties are as scarce as hen's teeth in our area. And most are on leased land. ...we own ours. The eyesore is a small price to pay. Besides, the owner is a lightening rod for all the neighbors to complain about. If it wasn't him it would be someone else.
