2010 cobalt 232 on a shorelander tandem axle trailer.

When I back my boat down a ramp to launch I can't get any slack in the winch strap to unlatch the bow eye hook. The boat wants to roll down.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks !

I wrap the bow line around the winch post a couple of times. Back off the winch to put weight on bow line. Unhook winch, control boat weight using the wraps on winch post.

You could also try backing a bit further down into the water so more of the weight of the boat is supported by the water.

On my last boat I would winch it until it was floating and then unlatch.
