Does anyone have any pics of rod holders installed for trolling? I wanted to know what would be a decent brand and type of mount to use, side or top mount? Thanks

Re: Rod holders?

I would like to see that too. I hate to drill holes in my new boat so maybe someone has some ideas?

Re: Rod holders?

biggs08,
I have attwood flush mount in my Q3s/f fo over 8 years and they have worked great for me. As you can see I also use them for my mini down rigger when I fish for striper, walleye and just plain trolling. If you have any question just ask.

Re: Rod holders?

Thanks Paul. Where can I pick some of these up?? About how much are they? Also what do you have in your rear fishing seat seen in picture 3. Thanks for your help. I have a 2008 Q6 that I bought new in 09 and still looking to add to my fishing package. I do some perch and salmon fishing on Lake Michigan so wanted to make sure I got the right ones to hold the bigger biting fish. I saw some at bass pro but thought the Salmon bite trolling would tear the mount off. Would love to find a set like the ones on you boat. Seems like a flush mount so good for tubing ect?? Thanks.

biggs08,
You can get the mini down riggers at Cabel's at $59.99 and the rod holders at BPS and paid about $12 n the flush mounts were around $6 each. i think what you see in the third pic is my landing net that I keep along the sides between seats. Hope this helps good luck.

Re: Rod holders?

Installation was not had at all,I took my time, measured everything several times before drilling or any cutting ect. I used stainless steel bolts, washers and lock washers on everything and also marine sealant after I did a dry fit to make sure everything was ok. I have a wireless trolling motor that has worked great for me when landing fish especially whin I fish alone in bad weather.

I also outfit my q6 sf with the attwoods holders, and have been very pleased.

I was worried about messing up my new boat at the time, but I taped the boat before I used my hole drill, and then sanded, and applied 3m sealant before installing the holder. I have two forward and two at the rear.

Re: Rod holders?

Not so much for trolling, but this is the sort of setup we use for catfishing while anchored in the current. The one in the photo is the one I made to slip into the built in holders on my boat so that i wouldn't have to make any holes and so that i can remove it in seconds to put the cover on the boat.

This is the one I had on my old pontoon before I sold it....

That one was bolted to each rail across the transom.

Re: Rod holders?

Care must be taken when installing after market equip. in attention must be taken RE the wireing that is around the top of the deck around the entire boat
