...so we got a hotel room in Crossville, at at Lefty's BBQ (while the meat was tender, it lacked smoke flavor and was way to expensive for the amounts you got! I cannot recommend the place, ever! We had walk to the Pilot gas station and buy our own beer as they didn't serve beer...at least we were able to drink it the table with dinner!)...
… yeah, bummer. Closer to Cookeville or Knoxville woulda' been better for ya'.

Glad the trip's going well for you though. ( ...except for bein' upside down ;) ).

Well, We made it back at about 6:40 MDT. Had great weather all the way except last 5 miles, we ran into fog/sleet and a little snow.

So we did the water test yesterday morning (9:00am local time) the dream-o-meter read 63mph on the rev-limiter @ 5,350. The Captain's Call exhaust is quieter than you'd think, we think because the large swim platform covers the back...kinda traps it?
That's with the 1.65 outdrive (Bravo 1) and a 19P Revolution 4 (awesome prop!). Mercruiser 350 300 Mag.

Anyway, the tech that prepped boat, took us on the water for the test suggested that the engine was set-up for "high altitude"? I questioned this as I know from cars and outboards with EFI, from the factory, they are all set withing the same parameters and all the sensors detect all the required input and adjust automatically? MAP/MAF/O2/Knock etc...? Am I crazy or is the ECM mapping done depending on where the boat ends up? I kinda thought that was one of the advantages of having EFI? I have a beer riding on this with the tech?

Thanks,

~Brett

Thanks foodfisher...It's what I thought the boat tech is a BS'er...

It's a 2014 Mercruiser with catalytic converters as part of the exhaust risers/manifolds. Short of having Mercrusier software and EFI parameters, there's nothing different between the a boat sold at 5,280 (Denver) and one in Seattle (See level), assuming all other things being equal (motor/drive/boat?)

Ciao,

Thanks AC...it was not a bad drive at all, set the GPS, hooked-up the music and took turns driving...I will say over all the trip was rewarding and the amount saved between the trailer and the boat justified the long trip (boat easily lists over $50K, and that's with out a trailer) he got a bada** trailer and a really nice boat and between those and the trip he's under $50K) I know, it's sad when the trailer exceeded our expectations, while the boat was about what we expected for the $?! I suggested Checkmates (easily $30K more for a comparable boat), but his budget was under $50K...and it had to be yellow!

Driving east from Memphis to Nashville on I-40 is like driving in a tunnel. There's absolutely nothing in between except Jackson and that's not saying much.

There are many places that don't have the sheer beauty of Virginia. West Tennessee is agricultural the first 78 miles to Jackson, but some of that land is as fertile of farmland as there is anywhere. In the eyes of a farmer, flat lands are very beautiful.

Tennessee just gets more beautiful the farther you go to the east, and the mountains around Rockwood are absolutely breathtaking. And the region has a bunch of incredible lakes.

Your buddy is buying a quite beautiful boat. When compared with the price of a bass boat, it almost seems cheap for what you get.

If you're going to spend the night prior to picking the boat up, I would suggest staying at exit 317 at Crossville--2 hrs. east of Nashville. It's about 30 minutes from where you're going.

They've got a Cracker Barrel on that exit, and the Best Western Leisure Inn is one of my favorite motels anywhere.

It looks as if the weather report's good for Friday and Saturday, with temperatures running from 25 to 45 degrees. It'll be a little chilly to be on the water, but the Tennessee River's close to Rockwood. Since you're from Colorado, I'm sure you've got warmer clothes than we have.
