Cowboy, try to make sure you're in an appropriate topic before you start 1. The prop forum isnt the best place to ask questions about hull rivets.

I'll move this over to the resto forum, it covers boat work, not just full restorations

Also note how long its been since the original person that started a topic, has posted to it, as noted by another Moderator in the 4yr old topic you posted in. After 90dayd w no new posts by the topics original author, topics are considered inactive and for research only, not to be posted to.

If you have any questions about forum stuff, not boat or motor questions, you can private message me or any moderator any time. We're here to help.

I'll post back after I move this

Why replacing rivets? Leaking/weeping?

What part of the boat is the new rivet holding together? Seams, gunwale cap, trim, keel, ribs etc?

Are you setup/perpared to buck solid rivets, or will you be using a hand riveter? Air rivet gun?

Many are using aluminum closed end blind 'pop' style rivets w a brazer head and a 3/16 diameter. Length to securely hold the thicknesses you are going thru.

Look thru the Starcraft forum. Lots of great tin boat building going on there. W tons of discussions about rivets, both solid and closed end blind 'pop' style.

Just be sure you get alumimum mandrel rivets or fill the divit left behind by a steel mandrel. Steel, alumimum and water dont work well together.

Good luck, and got any pix of your boat and the rivets that need to be replaced?
