Rewiring Quick question

okay, i am replacing all the heavy guage wire on my dual batt setup.. i had a couple questions:

1. the alternator hooks to 'com', correct? (currently only hooked to one batty... so doesnt charge other batty...)

2. My trim pump was relay wired to 'com' - it works like that, is that correct? part two, my starter is wired to the same lug on the trim relay, so its power is hitting trim relay first. is that a major concern, should it go to com?

thanks, i really want to make this right, once, and never mess with it again.
its on a 350 mercruiser.

im using this diagram from the sticky, just looking to go more in detail..

Re: Rewiring Quick question

The COM terminal on the switch is the "source" of all power for the boat. It is also the destination for charging current from the alternator. So ALL loads (starter, alternator output, fuse/breaker panel feed, etc.) all go to the COM terminal. One exception -- the automatic bilge pump, if you have one, is hard wired to the battery so it can operate with the switch set to OFF.
