Reverse lock

Hi again, another problem someone might be able to help with is my reverse lock. The mechinism will not lock and does try to but it seems to be out by a fraction. I wonder might it be bent or is there some nack to it. Thanks again.

Itis a 30hp Mercury and Ibelieve it is a 1986 model.
