I never did it on that engine but the only thing I would do would ensue the shifter is in N or F and you rotate the crankshaft as you push the carrier into position, ensuring that the gears find highs and lows synchronously and not get high centered on 2 peaks....if that's possible...if the tips of the gear teeth are rounded then probably wouldn't be necessary.
