Re: retractable safety cables
I was going over my trailer last fall and the cables were rusty and erratic retracting. There is a plate bolted on the bottom of the tongue that retains the springs... remove it and the cable and spring will slide out. I cleaned out the tube and put axle grease on the cable and spring. Works great now - we'll see how it lasts.
