This little project took an inordinate amount of time but it will be well worth it. Due to the complex shape of this deflector, I basically had to do each layer in three seperate applications. There are a total of about 8 layers of 10 oz glass. At each step I would put the part in the oven to speed the curing of the resin.

I would apply a strip to the vertical and the horizontal surfaces and then apply a 3/4" strip along the radius. To get the narrow strip to adhere to both sides of the radius, I applied some peanut butter epoxy and let it tack. Once the peanut butter, with strip applied cured, I would wet it out with resin, let it cure then repeat the other two surfaces.

About half way thru the process I began to use Micro fibers to make all peanutbutter batches as I figured it would make a less brittle part than using cabosil. (hence the greenish cast)

Notice the double thick flooring at this location. This was done in recognition that I would be making a piece like this that needed to be screwed into the floor plus the floor mounted latch at the front of the fiberglass motor doghouse. I vowed that no screws would pentrate thru the floor. I will also apply a small bead of 3M 4200 under the dam before I screw it in place.
