So I finally am getting around to at least starting my restore thread for my 1969 starcraft Bahama. Thanks to all who have provided small and great opinions, examples, expert advice and mostly inspiration on this Forum. It's been invaluable for my motivation and the outcome of my project. It's a great pLeasure to be in the starmada with y'all! Now if I can just figure out how to use this board without making too many mistakes

FiIrst we start at the begining. I brought this old lady home with me to the surprise and skeptisim of the Wify, common story I'm sure.

Welcome to iboat and the Starmada, you are going to find that there is a lot of help here for anything that you have questions for. These guys are a great bunch as well, just have to put up the mob and its a good thing that you posted pics as they would and will hound for more pics. Nice boat and have fun with it, you will at least know what you have when you are done and confident in what you have as well. Good luck with it and have a good time most important.

Motor hood above (not sure what I did there?)

Stern and motor:

Controls:

Bilge with goodies

SO the boat came with all the required coast guard equipment a couple gas tanks, 2 batteris, etc.
Paid $750 for the trailer +boat+motor transom saver even a bailing water bottle (that should have told me something)

The Motor needed the carbs rebuilt, and a new coil, but she runs fine now

First things first.
Needed some kind sunshade, here in NC it gets VERY hot and sunburnie :

SO after taking it to the lake a few times

Ok, SO about the third tiime I got to the lake, full load peeps gear and pet. One of the passengers sitting in the back ask if the water soaking her feet was normal. Obviously, I couldn't figure how, So, Looking down into the bilge, I see water filling her up, I hit the bilge pump, (which I wired up b4 the maiden return to the water) and at least I knew that worked well, but the stern was dropping low, OS I turned it around and our little boat trip ended about as quick as it started.

Got it back on the trailer and identified the "leak":

So easy fix right?

Next thing you know, I'm pulling up the deck:

Out with the foam:

yes sir yes sir:
http://richrock.com/media/albums/Bomber_restore/out_going_foam_bags.jpg

SO after gutting the deck and underneith, I found the top side of the leak:

yeah can you beleive it?
SO I get all the foam out and look at this crazy "core" for stringers under there...

Anyone ever see this design for stringers before? could this be the original setup? Looks like a tray for making ice cubes...

I'm going to move this to the regular restoration section. Much more fiberglass knowledge there.

The first set didn't work before I moved it either. I can't help with iboats photos, I only do photobucket.

Re: Restoration Thread 1969 Starcraft Bahama

SO back to my restore journal...
AND so the deck repair continues:
Got some new floatation:

All these little ice cube tray chambers each had a bit of water in them, there was no "weaping" holes in each of these "cells" to allow the water to drain into the bilge, SO I made some, and that made the hole in the middle of the noodle pretty useful as well:
View attachment 85320

so in between each cell in the stringer system I made a "hole" for weaping:

then cut some 1/2 tubing and resined them in:
