I'm planning to re-restore my old 15' aluminum runabout, but I cannot figure out how to replace the plywood transom - it is sandwiched between the aluminum hull of the transom and the aluminum trough, so that only the lower half is visible from inside (under the trough). The trough seems to be welded to the inner-side wall lip. Any advice?

The boat was built by Texas Boat Works in the 1950s or 1960s. If anyone has any information on this company - especially if they are still in business - I would like to find out more about them.

I have no clue, but here is a site where you might be able to find out.
I thot (until i checked-into it), that it was the Lonestar Boatworks, as they were an aluminum boat manufacturer after WW-II in Texas. Some really pretty Lonestars are still out there because they were made so well.
Anyhoo,here's the link; http://www.boatclassics.com/

------------------
I'm no expert, but I DID sleep at a Holiday Inn last night!

Re: Restoration: Texas Boat Works Runabout

Thank you for the great link. I have not found my boat yet, but that looks like a deep resource. I especially liked the LoneStar link. My dad got a 21' Cruise Master when I was about 3 years old. He sold it a couple of years ago. I remember restoring it once when I was in high school. That was a great boat!
