Guys,
I can get this boat for nothing and only pay a small appreciation fee (that I choose) if I can get a running boat out of it.
I'm finding out the year and exact model by this evening so you will know more. But what I have so far is this;
1984
16' Thundercraft tri-hull
60 hp Mariner outboard
Trailer has literally rusted out from under the boat. But I have another trailer for it.
Upholstery in the bow and back to backs are pretty much shot and will need replacing or recovering.
Floor feels solid (not a lot of wood in the construction of that hull from what I can tell so far)
Carpet is old and will need replacing, although not immediatly.
Padded side panels A-OK with no tears or splits.
Hull looks fine except for some superficial damage where the fender on one side has gouged the gel coat in a quarter sized area. Overall gel-coat condition is dull but not too bad.
Transom sounds and feels solid, but I know you can never really tell.
Motor was running fine when the boat was parked back in 2002 when the owner replaced it with a Bayliner. I just hope it hasn't been left to freeze. Even SC gets cold sometimes.
So, with no initial costs up front, do you think this could be a worthy project? Are Thundercraft boats good boats in general?
