I have the boat titled above. I am new to boating in general and love modest projects. This however is new to me and learning is easy if information is avalable. I have found this to be rather difficult. I believe this boat to be in great shape I naught to help a buddy for $600. I want to use it I read these were very revered and some worth repair.

There are a few key things that you need to establish, I think, to tell you what to do next: Does the boat float? Is the floor soft? Do you have any idea how much rot there is in the stringers and/or transom? Is it holding water? Does the outboard start and run? How long since it's been run?

I would make sure the boat is in good structural shape before I worried about cosmetic shape. The outboard is probably the least of your concerns: get a good shop manual and it should be easy enough to get running again.

Welcome aboard.

Before launching to see if it floats....fill those holes on the left side of the transom with some 4200 or equivalent sealent. Not sillycone! Might have been from some sort of ladder given the spacing.

Letting water in through those holes is generally not a wise move.

Boat in " great shape " I doubt it.----I suspect issues with the transom ( plywood core ) and perhaps the rust stains from motor mounting bolts are a clue.-----Most folks would use stainless there.----And install a new water pump impeller before launching this boat.

The water pump impeller is specific to the motor. You need year, and HP, (possibly model / s/n) to order correct part. More than likely iBoats has it so use your forum discount to order.

You'll also want the shop manual for the motor to review the process to remove & install the impeller.
