Re: Resto Forum?

If your using window's 7 they are doing massive updates havn't paid to much attention but its network related.

I know I have run these updates, and I'm not experiencing any issues. Maybe another possible suspect? For those that are experiencing an issue, have you run a Windows Update recently?

Re: Resto Forum?

Hey Tony and Don, thanks for looking in to this eh:)

Yup, the two links that Don posted and the one link that Tony posted all get me the same page that YD posted up through FireFox. But, through Chrome, all is running perfect.

That iboats contact page actually comes up form any link I click to get into the Resto Forum (email updates, even the links in my sig).

Man am I glad to here you guys are have issues too. I just assumed one of my kiddos messed up some settings somewhere deep in FireFox that I'd never be able to find or something.

Tony, it looks like I am set to see 20 posts per page if that helps ya any.

Thanks again fellas:)

DayCruiser, Turn your ad blocker off and see if they come up.
What browser are you using?
Where are you trying to access the forums from? Index page, quick nav bar at the bottom right?

I had to go eat. I use Fox fire. I turned off ad blocker and boat topics, not engine topics forum worked. I just click on Forum top left and then the links

Everything is fine now. I guess no more ad blocker LOL Seems to be working faster without ad blocker. Thanks Don!

Could you turn the adblocker back on for a sec and see if it repeats? Could be helpful for Tony.

I was suspecting an ad blocker would be causing this.

I'm going to try something that requires some what technical knowledge, or maybe I can explain the steps easy enough for you to do it yourself. I turned on something that breaks down how the page loads, I'm pretty familiar with the pages and what should and shouldn't be there. For those experiencing this issue please do the following.

Step 1:
Visit the page that isn't loading, let it load entirely. Even if it is just a blank squished page.
Step 2:
After loading is complete, right click and select View Source or View Page Source. When this window pops up, please Select all (ctrl + a) and copy (ctrl + c).
Step 3:
Paste (ctrl + v) the copied content into a PM to me so I can inspect.

Right now I'm stumped as to why this is happening. My main guess is an ad blocker, but strange that it is happening to multiple people. Maybe everyone is using the same ad blocker?

Re: Resto Forum?

Everyone having problems seems to be using Firefox. But lot's of people use Firefox, but, I wonder if all the ones using Firefox are actually using the same ad blocker and one particular ad blocker could be causing the problem.

But for sure do the Copy and Paste of the info Toneeees needs.

My exact guess Don. I know on the ad blocker I use, I can block ANYTHING on the page that it doesn't already block. My guess is that the ad blocker being used, "guesses" what to block. Somehow mistaking the loading threads for ads. What's making me suspect other things is because it doesn't happen on every forum.

A good ad blocker can (should be able to) tell the difference between what is forum and what is advertisements. If not, the you really need to find one that does.

My problem wasn't just what was shown in post 16. One forum showed all the threads closed. I clicked on moderator screen names to send a pm and nothing happened. So the ad blocker was causing several different problems. None of which happens when I visit other non related forums. I logged out and back in and that didn't fix the problem

OK, weird.

I'm on my work puter now (home earlier ^^^), running FireFox and all is running just right.

So, there has to be some sort of setting that is off on my laptop. Eh????

We do actually have a couple forums where all threads are closed, off the top of my head. I know the Boating Safety one is.

Jason, has your work computer been updated with recent windows updates? Maybe your laptop has not? When you can, try loading the resto forum in internet explorer. Just to see if this is a browser issue. Thanks

Dunno for sure, there may have been an update on my work puter over the summer. But, I can't think that would impact things as FireFox is (should be) the same on both puters, eh??? Plus, when I posted up this thread it just started happening on my laptop, and I'm pretty sure I didn't change anything.

I'm head scratching for sure on this one.

Use IE???? Ohhhh rats!! I'm trying to fight "The Man" here Tony!

OK fine, for the good of iboats...

(Chrome works fine though)

I'm not saying to use IE for the time being, I just wanted you to load the resto forum once to see if it works. Apparently it's a FireFox issue, maybe an addon issue.

Also I still haven't received any Private messages. If someone could do this, it would help a ton.
