Re: respect for authority

ive had a few run-in with the law but im mellow so i never seem to get badly harrased. when asked if they can check my live wells i asked if he could wait till i get the the boat tied down and on level ground he was more than cool to wait. i figure if i break down in the middle of no-where then its most proberly the fish and game boat thats going to be able to find me on a gps number so there good friends to have. as for the normal police so far they have caught me going the wrong way down the road...nice man blocked traffic so i could turn around. overloading a pickup so the cop went in front and stayed with me at 15mph all the way back into town to make sure i got there ok (about 2 miles). even the ones who i thought was going to be a problem with the "sir i smell drugs" didnt turn out that bad especially as i wouldnt give them permission to search my truck. when asked why i said i had tools of my trade that could be taken as tools of crime including knifes, hammers, pry bar, etc so im willing to wait for the warrent. we sat and chatted until the k9 unit showed up and after the dog sniffed around the cop handed me back my paperwork and said have a nice day. i sure everyone has good days and bad days i just dont see the point of adding to someones bad day. i must admit the uk accent still works and sometimes i have to ask them politely to slow down what they are saying so i can pick out the words which helps them calm down as its no good shouting when i have no idea what you are saying.

Re: respect for authority

Many times Ive been approached by the law and what I learned was to do as they say. Only answer questions that are asked. DO not offer anything else and you'll be on your way in no time. As for your wife and the way she treated him was uncalled for. We all have a job to do.

wow, sorry:redface: didn't mean to upset anyone, i never have problems with LEO, i know how to deal with them, my wife has some issues with authority, the term that was edited was a direct quote and in bad taste, but gave the jist of the venting i had to listen to. the experience with the LEO didn't bother me as much as her 45 min. rant on the ride home:facepalm:

Dunno' if I feel more sorry for the poor cop just trying to get his job done or for coolbri70 just trying to go for a boat ride ;)

Might wanna' lurk the WVDNR forum for the "rest of the story."

Re: respect for authority

Until this year I had never been safety checked by fish and game people.

I was check atleast 10 times this year(about every other time out)by the same officer.
He was always polite as was I there was never a problem with anything.
Toward the end of the season it kinda became a joke with me and the kids we would take bets on how long it would take for my new found friend to come along and check on us. The furthest away had to wipe the boat down at the end of the day.

Now the difference is this year we have an inboard with a waketower.
I don't think it has anything to do with me its all about the type of people that have boats like ours being the party crowd.

You think that is bad, you ought to be in the car with lil Mrs Road rage. She doesn't care if it a Cop or a gang banger who is driving the way she doesn't like :( He or she is going to get hand gestures and $%^#@&*. I am the one who is driving. I tell her she is going to get us killed one day. Calm down! I just want some piece and quiet :D

Wow, hard to believe that this thread has taken a hard right and is heading south....and looking back, it is unquestionably a MOD who was at the wheel....:D;)

Re: respect for authority

I am always "yes, no sir, mam" etc. and completely honest and accomadating when dealing w any LEO even ones who may act less than professionally when dealing w me. I respect them all for what they do for a living and I personally could never do because I cannot always be courtious when dealing w civlilian idiots or just bad charactors. They have to do it every day, sometimes many times a day and go back to work expecting more of that unpleasant personal interaction, for that I am gratefull to them all for trying to make the world a better place and just doing their job enforcing laws they did'nt make.

Re: respect for authority

Oh goodness someone is insulted because I don't love cops and think they're the most wonderful things on the planet.

Editing the rest of my post. We can't say anything bad about cops here, so I don't need to be here.
