RESOLVED. After I mentioned that I needed two filter wrenches to get the filter off, I went back & took a closer look at the brand new one I used for the first time. Sure enough, rivet missing. It was very close to the lower 'arm', so not as obvious as if it had been any other rivet on the tool (I did quickly check it the first time, obviously too quickly). <br /><br />A real good hint I missed was that it was so clean, unlikely to have come from the engine compartment.<br /><br />So Robby gets full credit for a correct answer!

YES! Send the prize to .......HA! :p <br />PS. I go NUTS when I find a washer or nut on my floor by my bikes, and my "friends" know this and plant stuff on me. Its a game now! And Rodbolts right on the bilge thing...its scary down there! :eek:

I love seeing "RESOLVED" on peoples problems. Congrats to Robby for figuring it out and now lakelivin can go on and not worrying about something fixing to fall apart in his boat!! :eek: :D

By the way, it isn't actually a rivet (no back piece to it), rather a pin; the ends are supposed to be flared enough to keep 'em from falling out.
