Researching a restoration project.

Hello , I'm a newbie here and am looking into a nice older boat to restore. It will be used at our cottage on a smaller lake in northern Mi.
I have found a 1959 Renken with a 60hp Evinrude. First off I don't know anything about them , and would parts be hard to find ? I'm not saying this is the boat I want to restore but if the price is right it just might be.
Anyone have any info on them ?

Well parts for just about any boat are hard to find. Builders often only made a handful or two of any one design and moved on. Boats are typically built using a lot of off the shelf parts though so although you may not find the exact parts you're looking for you can often get close. Parts for the Evinrude should be fairly readily available.

I agree with ezmobee....Parts for your Evinrude will not be hard to find (if you know where to look) I am fairly certain iboats marine store wouldn't carry parts for it so I hope it's not a sin to say this but discount-marine-parts.com is a great place to get parts for old motors. That is where I get my parts and I have a 1966 and a 1965 Evinrude. (I also like evinrude's, as they have always worked great for me!) Good luck with your decision and if you do get it upload some pics for us!

Evinrude parts are all over the internet,

but that renkin, you ain't gonna find anything for that,
boat parts come from the lumber dept at home depot,
you can find marine hardware right here on iBoats.

Personally I;d just get a tinny for now and work on the old woodie on the side, all wood boats can take yrs to rebuild.

Here are a few pictures of the Renken... although now I found a really nice '59 Hydroswift that is 80% restored , but needs a motor rebuild.
