Well, I let a now "EX" good friend use my 1987 Sylvan 18ft. pro fisherman with a 115 Chrysler Charger and he blew it up.
I heard what he did was have it running full speed and then cranked a hard turn. The people on the shore heard the engine scream and then a bang. The boat stopped dead. He cavitated and didn't pull the throttle back.
I saw the results. Rods sent through the block.
So, my question now is, what year, manufacturer and horsepower would you recommend to re power it. It ran real good with the Chrysler. I had a 21p SS prop on it. It would do in the low to mid 40's. That was a 1979 Charger.
I know the HP ratings are different now. I was wondering if a later model like from the late 80's early 90's of lower horsepower would push it along like the old Chrysler did.
1979 115hp=1990 80hp. Something like that.
I'm on a real tight buget with this.
The ex friend is of no help.
