Hi,
I have an 18 ft center console that had a transom that I was able to pull out mostly with my fingers and a shop vac. After researching on what would be best to replace the transom with, I have settled with Greenwood XL Panels. I was wondering if anyone knows of a place to get these in New England, as I live in Massachusetts. I would prefer not to order them off of Overton's.
Thanks

And you made this decision because....????? Give us some more informatoin about your boat. Age? Mfg? Size? Most of the experienced builders here on iBoats use either standard Marine Grade Plywood or regular Ext. Grade Plywood. Regardless of the wood used it is ALL soaked in either Poly or Epoxy resin and mat. I see no reason to go to the trouble of ordering and shipping this specialty panel for your transom. But that is JUST my opinion.

It is an 1974 18ft aluminum center console. Whatever material makes up the transom will be exposed in the bottom of the boat as the splashwell covers the top half. The bottom half of the transom is exposed to the interior of the boat. Composites are too expensive for me and sea-cast isn't practical. I decided to go with the Greenwood panels as they are $65 on overtons for a 4 by 8 3/4 in. sheet. From searching around the internet it seems that they are commonly used; Baha, Bayliner, Grady White, Key Largo, Palm Beach and Trophy use them in their boats for structural components. Greenwood gives the manufacturers a lifetime warranty on the wood against rot and I believe will pay pay the bill(and labor) to replace a rotten transom in the first 10 years. I am completely open to suggestions but $65 per sheet seemed pretty good from what looks to be a reputable product.
