All,
I am a new boat owner. I purchased an 86 Crestliner Nordic. It has inboard motor and stern drive unit. I am trying to find a place to get parts. the throttle cable that runs from the engine to the outdrive has a leak in the screw fitting on the inside of the boat. it is not a bad thing right now, but anytime a boat leaks it's not good. So I know nothing about boats. all I know it that the engine is on the inside, the outdrive is on the outside. i fill it with gas and fish with it. i don't know the engie size, or who made it. i do know the outdrive is an OMC. I got the boat for $900 and spent another $2,300 in repairs and neglected maintenance. Ran awesome for the first month. Spent a lot of money on launch fees.
Now a buddy of mine loaded me a boat slip for the rest of the year, and i've noticed the boat has a leak in the black rubber hose that is around the red throttle cable going from the engine to the outdrive. it is NOT in the bellow, it is leaking from several spots on the hose, that is dry rotted. I need to know how to replace it, where I can find a repair manual for my boat, and where I can find a reliable place to get parts.
I would like some info on how to figure out what kinda of engine I have and get a repair manual for it. my son is 7 years old, my nephew is 10. my soon to be wife and I love the boat. but @ $110/hr I'd like to be able to some of the more general repairs and general maintenance stuff myself. I was able to install my fish finder, down riggers, and new ship to shore radio myself. but now I need to replace that cable, to stop the leak. I know how to change the oil and fill the gas. I keep her clean and tidy.
(Personal info removed)
I will post a picture of her once i get the graphics done.
my boat is 18' long. we call her the "Nauti-Girl"
So when people call me and ask what I am doing, I tell them I am riding the "Nauti-Girl" and she's getting wet... they tell me to call back later and don't ask so many questions!!!
Thanks all,
Jim D!
