replacing this floor what a shocker!

im replacing part of this floor mainly because i just cannot do a full floor on my own and only the section pictured is soft/rotted its a 17 foot boat am i able to pull out the rotted half of stringer and replace it with a new stringer than some how join the two together?

Why would you halfway do the job? Your just wasting time and money by not fixing everything, IMO.

If your sure thats the extent of the rot, that no where else under the floor there is massive water damage, then Yes, you can remove part of a rib stringer and sister on a new one...BUT.. you will need experience in fiberglass application, if you scab it togher..and its not done correctly...well, you run the risk of the hull losing its structural integrity and collapsing. post this in the restoration thread..Good Luck Amigo.

With that severe of damage there it is hard to believe that there isnt rot else where. I think I would second the notion to just replace the whole deck. It isnt really going to be that much more work than what you have going on now. Plus there will be no worries about soft spots for many years to come!!
