How many years or clock hours should, exhaust rubber be changed? Riser manifold hoses? Any other rubber pieces that can really give you a MAYDAY or tow back. 2002 Mercruiser 5.0L-- 220 hr.-------No 2 people seem to agree.

Re: Replacing the rubber parts

You change them if they are bad, no hours, days, years or anything else. If you pull your risers and check them after the first few years of use (In saltwater ... have no idea about fresh water) and find the hoses are beyond use, replace them. They are not a part that has a life measured by clocks and calendars.<br />Of course, if you have an overheat, expect and inspect the hoses for damage.

I will leave it up to Frank, the mechanic, to check them each year. Money well spent, while I sleep and play. Retired with a good boat and marina staff. Thanks Don.

I reccomend to replace the drive belloows at at least 3 year intravals and do the shift cable bellows as well. the exhuast hoses if not overheated will last a long time usually.
