replacing sail protectors on spreader bar

On my old Coronado 25 i need to replace the sail protectors on the end of the spreader bars. Can i just lean an extension ladder against the spreader bars to axcess the protectors? <br /><br />Pete

Very carefully. If doing it from the boat, tie off the ladder so it can't slide or shift. Some padding on the ladder so it can't scratch the spreaders would be good.

I would prefer a Bosun's chair, but the ladder will work if like Ed says, be sure it is secure.....
