If anyone has followed my previous couple threads you would have seen my issues with my locked up lower unit and then the problem of removing it from the engine. (1986 85HP Force)

I went ahead and bought a real nice looking lower unit from the local marine salvage here in St Pete Florida.
As I am planning to replace the impeller before installing it I read Franks very detailed step by step...and i'm stumped on one part:
'From the DIY: The black rubber crankshaft seal will probably come off the top of the drive shaft as well as the steel collar. If they stay up inside the midleg, lower the engine and they should just fall out. If not, tap and jiggle a bit. When you go to replace the lower unit, the collar goes on with the groove facing up and the rubber seal goes on with the beveled end up.'

When we took mine apart there was no rubber crankshaft or collar. I have even looked up inside the leg to make sure its not stuck up there....and nothing. Was this part just missing from mine or did some engines not have it, or did someone from the past just never install them?
Do I need to buy these parts?

These are the parts in this thread: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=466213

Thanks again.........
